This is a low cost personal security device with a handy flashlight form factor. It seems to perform both functions adequately, but if you honestly feel you need a stun gun for security, or for a very specific anticipated threat, I recommending purchasing the best quality unit you can afford. This is really bottom of the line; functional, but dependability is questionable. If you seriously need protection or you are in the security industry, get a good machined aluminum unit that is more discreet, better made, and with a proven history of performance in that industry. This is handy, but if I thought I would have to trust my life to it, this product would not be my choice.
