4 Ways to Power Up:
Hand Crank The Dynamo Handle
Unit is self-charged by the built in solar panel
Battery Powe
For the price it’s a great deal..but I’m rating this for what it claims to do..Not the price.,
This radio is solar powered, hand crank powered, or regular battery powered. They all work fine supplying power to the unit. I must admit I’m very impressed with the solar power.
The build is solid and doesn’t feel cheap at all.
The radio picks up AM/FM very well but I have yet to hear anything on SW and the weather band only works out doors.. I own a smaller dynamo hand crank that picks up weather band perfectly anywhere in doors or out..This is what knocked off two stars for me..These radio bands are useless in many situations.
For $20 it’s worth it….but I’d rather spend a little more and get a higher quality radio.

Updated Review,
For just over $20 this comes full of features. I tested it and all of the items work as advertized. The only downside is they don’t offer the cell phone charger or DC adapter on the site. The hand crank, solar and batteries work so you should be covered. This is a larger unit I wouldn’t suggest for a small backpack but a definite for the car or home. Be leery of the hand crank only radios more options for charging are better in an emergency situation.
I recommend the product esp at this price.
UPDATE: 11-15-12, the solar has become discolored even though I’ve not had to use it, now they offer the phone adapter and charger when I ordered they did not. I am still able to get reception but it is fading as the unit ages, the digital radios seem to fare better.
I recommend the WR-111 by Ambient weather. Not the New Ambient as you should read my review and you’ll understand why.

Dynamo Emergency Solar radio,
I purchased this for emergencies. The solar panel turned unclear in the sunlight and could not hold a charge. The radio/flashlight was plastic. Other than that, I like the crank for manual recharging and the ability to put batteries in the radio to use the radio and the flashlight. Very reasonably priced and good for an emergency. If my solar powering worked I’d give this 5 stars. (Though my friend bought one too, and everything worked well, including the solar panel.)
