My wife and I shoot approximately 400 rounds a week, and I clean our guns every time, so I was looking for a functionally good cleaner, and hoping for a less noxious odor than that of many cleaners I’ve used. Hoppe’s has been around since I was a kid, so they must do something right, and this cleaner is an example of their attention to consumer requirements. I can clean all our guns (we usually shoot 3 or 4 every outing), in less than an hour. I used to soak the barrels of our Glocks for 40 Mins. in a sealed plastic bag just to loosen the copper, or lead (357 Mag). Now, I spray them, brush with a nylon brush, and let them sit while I clean the other parts, and when I swab the barrels, they have always come totally clean. The oder is actually pleasent.
I also use the M-Pro 7 oil to wipe down all the metal and swab the barrels, followed by a good rub-down with a clean cotton cloth / patch.
    I think Hoppe’s has a winning product in the M-Pro 7 series.

I tested this out by cleaning two guns which got really dirty. The first was a Euroarms Rogers & Spencer black powder revolvers, through which I put about 40 rounds. The second was a 1945-vintage M-1944 Mosin-Nagant carbine, through which I put about 50 early 1960s Soviet surplus 7.62x54R and 5 Hungarian surplus rounds. The Soviet surplus is some of the dirtiest “smokeless” ammo that I’ve fired.

With both guns patches came out of the bore clean after about 5 or 6 wet patches through the bore. I followed up with Ballistol to verify nothing was being left behind by the M-Pro 7 and they too, came out clean.

Aside from being an effective fouling remover, what is remarkable about M-Pro 7 is that it’s pretty much odorless and gives off no fumes. According to the MSDS it doesn’t contain anything especially nasty, and is readily biodegradeable. (Google “m-pro 7 msds” and you can find it on the maker’s website.)

After years of using smelly, carcinogenic gun cleaners I think I have a new favorite.

My husband bought this on the advice of a friend. Awesome cleaner, BUT…it did damage to the blueing on any anodized surface. Worked really well on the non-anodized surfaces such as my Springfield xd. so…all in all-wonderful product but don’t use on anodized materials!!!
