North of 60: Belated Winter Updates

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. I’ve done lots, so there hasn’t been a dry spell of things to post about. Perhaps there’s been too much, and there simply hasn’t been time to spend at a computer. Whatever the reason, I seek your forgiveness in the matter.

Here’s an extremely compressed update on life up in the Yukon:

Here’s a view from a cross-country ski trip out to Marsh Lake, in March, with Julia:

Next up is a visit from my lifetime friend Ryan. Ryan, being the gracious gentleman he is, became the first person to visit me up in the Territory. I had a lot of things for us to do, and all and all I’d say it was a great success.

First day: Miles Canyon:

Second day: We did an epic 30km cross country ski up and down Mount McIntyre. I can’t believe I convinced Ryan to do this, as it is sometimes considered dangerous, and I couldn’t really convince anyone else to do it with me:

Third Day: We hiked up Mount Lorne. I had tried this previously, and posted about it, but hadn’t made it to the summit. Ryan, bless his heart, did it with me, and reminded me on the way down about his bad knees and how I really shouldn’t be bringing him on trips like these. That joker.

Day Four: We went ice climbing!

Day Five: We went to an animal sanctuary or whatever, and it had bison and muskox and arctic hares and moose and all that… I have pictures, but I’m too lazy to upload all of those. That night we also went winter camping at the Anni Lake cabins:

Actually, Ryan was here for 7 days… but I can’t find anymore pictures. I may have messed up some of the days and when we did them… but this is definitely the highlights from that trip.

More to come! SOOO MUCH MOOOOORE
