The 6.5oz Adventure Medical Thermo-Lite 2 Bivvy provides an emergency shelter for day trips that run a little long, and it can even replace your sleeping bag in warm weather. This water-resistant bivy sack gives you insulation similar to a 50F sleeping bag, so you can bring it alone on ultralight overnight trips in the summer. The Thermo-Lite 2 nylon material holds in heat and fights off moist weather during an un-planned overnight stay in the backcountry.

Not quite as advertised,
I recently purchased this item and I was initially impressed with the material and design. I used the bivy as a sleeping bag during a summer backpacking trip instead of taking my normal down bag along. It was super light and it didn’t take up alot of space in my backpack. The temp dropped into the upper 60’s at night and all I needed to do was cover myself with the bivy. I didn’t even get into the bag. There were no condensation problems. I was totally comfortable. The material isn’t crinkly like a space blanket.
The two problems I encountered were the bivvies I purchased did not have the foot vents, even though Adventure Medical Kits advertises there are. The thread used for the velcro is weak. Some of the stitching is unraveling from the velcro and I’ve only opened the bag portion a few times. That’s the reason for the 3 star rating.
Otherwise, it’s a good product and it definitely could save your life in a survival situation. Be gentle on the material though. If you want a cheap, featherweight summer sleeping bag, this is the way to go also.

The Bivy 2 is big enough for the oversized person and yet is small enough to fit in backpack with alot of room to spare.Comes with it’s own stuff bag.

Worked great!,
I’ve had this in my SAR pack for a few years never having to use it, until this week. Had an unexpected overnight in the Marble Mountain Wilderness area during a recent search. Temps were in the 40’s so not really cold but it had been raining most of the day and even after sitting by a fire to get that damp feeling to go away, still felt damp when I climbed into the bag on hard and damp soil. Had a plastic garbage bag underneath for awhile but since the ground wasn’t flat, we slipped off that in no time. Was never cold all night and while I didn’t get much if any sleep, this bivvy did what it was supposed to do and kept me warm. My SAR teammate had one as well and we were both very pleased!
