Good sizes, great quality.,
I have the large kit along with one other Nalgene travel bottle and they worked perfectly in my Eagle Creek toiletry kit. I filled them with shampoo, conditioner, combo body wash/shave gel, and some of the smaller bottles I used for hair product like gel, cream, etc. The quality is great and I have had NO problems with leakage or anything. They also hold quite a bit. I used these for a 5 week trip and then later a 2 week trip. With careful use, I didn’t need anymore shampoo/conditioner than was in the bottles.
The only thing you should know is that several of the bottles are 4 oz. So they are not good for taking in a carry-on bag. However they are the best choice for packing them in your suitcase, using the smaller bottles in your carry-on, or using them as pill bottles. This includes several different types of tops, including screw-on ones and flip-top/squeeze ones, and you can switch many of the tops.
EDIT: Here is the listing of sizes from the Nalgene website.
– Bottle w/Red cap is 1 ounce
– Square bottle w/Blue cap is 2 ounces (same size as the bottle w/white cap)
– Rectangular bottle w/Green cap is 4 ounces
– The next two bottles are 4 ounces, perfect for shampoo and conditioner
– The white dispensing caps will fit on all the bottles in the kit (except for the 1/2 ounce)
– The square bottle is 2 ounces, its the same as the bottle w/blue cap
– The bigger jar is 2 ounces
– The last jar is 1 ounce
I carried these to Russia and back, on a backpacking trip, and on another 2 week trip. STILL no leakages and this is still the perfect combo with my Eagle Creek kit!

“Small” size kit has TSA carry-on-approved bottles,
I bought the small size kit which is appropriate for TSA’s 3-1-1 rule of carry-on liquids/gels/creams if you’re flying on an airline. Those who complain about bigger-than-3oz size bottles bought the Medium size kit, which has some smaller bottles good for carry-ons, and some bigger bottles that can only be put in your checked baggage. The size of each bottle is embossed on the bottom, kinda hard to read, but it is there.
Anyhoo, on to the small size kit itself. The photo that Amazon currently shows for this product is of the small kit, and the bottles are, from left to right in the photo (thanks to Nalgene’s site for the description!):
The bottle with blue cap is a ½ ounce
Square bottle w/red cap is 2 ounces
Round bottle w/green cap is 2 ounces
Two straight sided jars, 2 ounces each
Clear square bottle is 1 ounce
I recently used all the bottles and put them in baggage that were both checked and carried on, and none of them leaked. I had watery liquids in the bottles – by the way, the bottles aren’t really squeezable for thick gels/creams, so they’re best for thinner consistencies that you can pour. The jars had creams in them, like thick conditioner. These little sizes are great for a long weekend. The caps are just that, screw top caps. They don’t have flip-top or snap-top openings, which for me usually end up leaking, so the plain screw caps these Nalgene bottles came with are great.
I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. They’re also top-rack dishwasher safe, though I just gave them a quick rinse with soapy water.

They leak..but not as much as other travel bottles I’ve used,
I purchased these travel bottles a few weeks ago and used them for the first time this weekend. Overall, I am pleased with the quality and performance of the bottles. However, some of the bottles leak. Two types of lids come with the medium set. The lids with the hinged spout leak badly. Thankfully, I used this type of lid on only one of the bottles in my suitcase, because the entire contents leaked out onto my clothes. I was only flying from Burlington to Memphis, a trip that should not have been abnormally hard on my luggage. While I am satisfied with the performance of the set overall, I had hoped that I had finally found a set of travel bottles which would seal tightly enough so that liquids would not end up all over the inside of my suitcase. In addition, the lids with spouts only fit the 4 oz. bottles, so carrying them in a carry-on (so that you could make sure that remained upright) is not an option.
