Hands On Composting Class Jan. 6th or 7th – The Survival Podcast

My “Simplified Bioreactor Composting Course” is 90% complete and will be done from a video stand point by next week and soon be available for purchase.  The class with cost 35 dollars and is about 5 hours of total instruction with comprehensive exams for all chapters.  It will come with a certification at the end for all students that complete the course and pass the exams.

My goal though is to add one more video to the course showing the actual construction of a bioreactor with a student Q&A to enhance the value of the course.  So I am doing a hands on course that will be either Jan 6th or 7th (depending on weather, see PS for more on this).  Aaron Hatch who does the A/V for my workshops will be here for this as well and has agreed to do the filming.

In this hands on course we will build my latest design of bioreactor, we will do so in a slowed down manner to make sure we get all the details etc.  The cost of this course will be 75 dollars a student, it will include…

  • The hands on class itself
  • The Q&A session after the hands on
  • A bad ass meal (menu forth coming)
  • A free seat in the online class (which will sell for 35 bucks)
    `

So in the end the real cost here is only 35 bucks if you were going to take the online course anyway.

While I never say someone can’t drive long distance for a course like this I am going to strongly suggest that people consider this a class tailored to those who can drive in the day of it and maintain some flexibility on the date.

My goal is to do this on Saturday the 6th, we are calling the 7th a (rain day) like they do with baseball games.  Understanding that rain, snow, sleet or just plain miserable cold may have us have to move the date.  The first week of January here is typically pretty damn nice and a bit of an “Indian Summer”.  That said we can also get totally crappy weather and as this must be done outside I don’t want miserable students.

I am honestly asking for help on the course here folks and I am going to put all the money back into the food, etc for this one.  I just feel this video content will make this online course into a total home run and the Q&A will also hugely serve the same goal.  Translation you are going to be on video if you do this.  That video will be for paying students only though.

The head count is going to be limited to 10, no discount for couples etc. for this due to the class size limitations and no young children.  As to kids if they are at least 14 and you are willing to pay for their spot and they are going to participate they are welcome.  Any younger kids can not be accommodated at this workshop.  Sorry it isn’t that I have any issues with kiddos this is just not the environment for it given we are engaged in video production in this instance.

You can get tickets now but should read the PS as to flexibility in the dates being moved before you do so.  Details will be provided as to our physical address, exact times, etc. no later than Tuesday, next week.  Right now though the time is planned at 10:30 – 3:30 on the date that works.  If you have never been here use the town of Lakeside to time your drive and we are about 10 minutes north of that.

P.S. – Please understand we may have to cancel the weekend in question and reschedule if both days are bad weather.  Additionally Aaron is not available the next two weekends so we would be looking at rescheduling Jan. 27 or 28 or even Feb. 3 or 4.  If you sign up and can’t come to the rescheduled date, I am willing to refund your money.  My hope is either the 6th or 7th will be good weather so this doesn’t come up, but I am not going to run this class if the weather is miserable and not suited to happen students and good video weather.
