I’ve had to use this and,
I’m a rollerblader and have a real problem with off leash dogs attacking me (13 times in the last two years). I tried a regular spray can type but the wind affected it too much, it was pretty much useless. I was not sure about this gun because of the short barrel, how it might aim and if it would be easy to hit a target accurately. I can say now, after using it, that it’s not a problem. I hit a dog running at me full speed right in the face about eight feet away. It stopped him cold. While I certainly don’t like pepper spraying dogs (I believe it’s the owner’s fault) the only option is to get bit or knocked off my skates at ten to twenty miles per hour. No fun!
It’s expensive to use but I called the police and he gave the owner two options; pay for the gun or get a $150 ticket for an off leash dog. He paid but he hated it.
EDIT: You can now buy a holster for this gun for about $20. It’s well made and has a very secure belt clip.

Funny Story Yeah It Works,
I made the mistake of leaving this on my desk instead of leaving it in the bedroom as I usually do when taking it out of my pocket the day before. My teenage daughter came to visit and asked to use my computer in my private office. I was in the kitchen fixing her something and heard this strange pop. Kind of sounded like a firecracker. I then heard her bark what the bleeeep. I rushed out to see the Kimber in her hand and she had pulled the trigger and it had shot the wall and ceiling behind her. I immediately opened the door and urgently told her to run out with me, she started saying why why, again I said cmon and hurry NOW, then in mid sentence she said but… GAGGGGGG COUGHHHHHH HACKKKKK. I had to remove her from the room I was holding my breath but it still got my eyes. Got her out and ran back in to open windows. The 16 by 24 foot room was uninhabitable for two hours even with 6 windows fully open. The stuff that came out was nasty and left a dripping running very sticky spot 14 inches in diameter at about seven feet. I cant immagine taking a direct hit with this as it comes out with literally explosive velocity. Nothing would take it all off and I mean nothing, and whatever we used reactivated the spray and you had to take off again. Had to repaint the area four times. To her defense the Kimber was the previous style that did not look like a gun and was square like a garage door opener she thought it was. The new gun style is better, and I taught her gun safety and this never would have happened. New style easier to use also. Highly recommended, but keep it out of sight.
Update. She is in college now and I bought her one of her own. She carries it all the time.

Case/Holster Suggestion,
The Pepper Blaster seems well constructed and has a nice heft to it for something that looks like a squirt gun. I have not fired it yet and hope I never have to so I cant speak of its function or durability. I do a lot of hiking, biking, and backpacking out in the boonies, often alone, and this device gives me and my loved ones some extra piece of mind, which makes it worth the $40 in my eyes.
The only thing I don’t like about this product is it does not come with a holster or case. This is important to keep the Blaster clean and in good working order in case you ever need it–you never want to draw it in a confrontation only to find that it wont fire because its damaged or clogged with dirt. The holster that Kimber sells separately costs and arm and a leg. If you are in the market for a cheap alternative, I highly recommend this: AmazonBasics Universal Camera Case for Digital Cameras HF (Black). The case is a perfect fit, cheap, attaches to any belt, and looks very inconspicuous on a belt or lashed to a backpack.
