This a voluminous, thick book, which is somehow curiously short on data for many cartridges. Relatively few powders and bullet weights are represented even for popular loads such as .45 ACP.

Now, I don’t use any one single manual – I have manuals from Sierra, Hornady, Lee, Hodgdon, and I always compare loads from different sources when starting a new batch, but this manual has a lot less data in it than I expected.

On the plus side, it does have some esoteric cartridges that you don’t always find data for elsewhere, and it does have some cast bullet data. It’s not a total loss as it will supplement my other sources, but I was a little surprised at how much was missing.

He laughed when I said I bought a Lyman book. However after about 8000rnds reloaded I’ve found it is the most extensive I’ve seen, and I have purchased a few different ones (Sierra, the “One Caliber, One Book”, etc..), and the Lyman has all the same info plus some extra stuff. I use the following info for reloading; first I get the load data off the powder manufacturer web sites, look at my Lyman book, and one other source, then make a load decision, and I have to say time after time the Lyman seems to be the same if not a little on the safer side as all the other forms of info. Great book..

This Lyman reloading handbook came with my new progressive reloader and is a a great guide for those looking for information on the reloading process and current reloading data.

The book first takes you through the reloading process, explains all of the components and terminology, and clearly highlights the most important parts and steps. All of the instructions are very easy to understand and there are many helpful black and white photos to illustrate points. The main section includes the specifics for each caliber, including the history and details of the cartridge (actually very interesting) and tables showing test results using various manufacture’s powder and different weight bullets, with the most accurate load shown in “bold”.

We also have The ABCs of Reloading: The Definitive Guide for Novice to Expert (ABC’s of Reloading), which is a very informative guide as well.

    Highly Recommended!
