Cooking With Cast Iron Over Camp Fire

During the recent Do It Yourself World survival training weekend we learned how to cook with cast iron cookware over a camp fire. This may sound simple, but there are certain techniques involved in cooking with an open fire. You cannot control the fire temperature as easily as you can with the stove top in your house. Cast iron is rugged and perfect for cooking right over the coals of a fire. You can boil water, bake bread and slow cook some fine meals with cast iron. You can even fry eggs.
