The Toll Hurricane Sandy Took On One Man’s Gun Collection
A guest post by Jesse Ingall from the blog Ideas, Thoughts and Happenings. These firearms were brought in to be completely cleaned of rust and salt. They were flooded when the tide rose during Hurricane Sandy. They sat in salt water for a week or so. I ran a steel brush through the barrels a bunch. Then I attempted to run a patch through one of the barrels and the pitting shredded the patch. Butt plate of a Mauser. R.I.P. John Noveske
The police report – HERE Damn only 36 years old. Not that much other than me… I didn’t know the guy, but from the YouTube videos I saw him in, and the things I read about him he seemed like a class act. My condolences to his friends and family. I hope they are able to pull through this and keep pumping out quality firearms and accessories in his honor. Remember guys, always wear your seatbelt. Been to a gun shop lately?
I live in South Carolina and have visited several gun shops as well as stores that carry firearms and ammunition. All are pretty much the same – no semi-automatic firearms (centerfire or rimfire), no magazines, and several calibers of ammunition virtually absent. Don’t see this anymore. With the threat of a new Assault Weapons Ban just over the horizon, there has been a massive rush on guns, magazines and ammunition – specifically AK’s, AR’s and the like. 7.62 x 39mm, .223/5.56mm, and 9mm ammunition have disappeared off the shelves along with .22LR. Any and all magazines holding over 10 rounds are gone or selling online for big bucks. …..nor this. I felt pretty squared away with …
