Today’s Item of the Day is from Vevor; it is their line of Margarita/Slushy Machines. I will state right out of the gate this is NOT a preparedness item in anyway unless you want to prepare for a party with a lot of good Jimmy Buffett music or something like that. What it is amounts to a hell of a lot of fun and a really cool item for parties, get togethers and events. And note it doesn’t only make booze style beverages, you can make slushes or just super chill drinks as well.

This item was recommended by my rep for summertime and I think it is great for that. I actually gifted this item to my nephew and his wife as they have a really cool back yard (where the video is) and they do a LOT of big parties with lots of people coming over. I gave it to them with the condition that they loan it back to me for the fall workshops (there will be Frozen Margaritas with the food from Lupe Tortillas catered on site this November).
That said these are very cool and similar machines around here RENT for 200-250 bucks per day and up. Using it could not be easier, choose your flavor, buy some syrup and follow the instructions. Also note these do not have to have alcohol in them. In fact we have had several events at my nephew’s since I got this item, honestly because as expensive as it is, I wanted it tested over time before recommending it to you.
Anyway even though they have plenty of adult beverages around at their events since they are parents themselves, they tend to have lots of kids along with their adult guests. So we have always made them virgin, or simply slushes for the kids and adults can simply add a shot to their cup before filling. And man do the kids love them.
The best mixers I have found so far come from a company called Margarita Man, stuff is really great for margaritas and pina coladas. Last time we were over they did Cherry and Blue Raspberry and so far Blue Raspberry has been the biggest hit with the kids.
There are three models available and which you buy should be a function of both cost and application. Let me first say these things are HEAVY, it was shipped in a wooden crate and packed so well I ended up using an angle grinder to cut the buckles off the box. When I got it out I understood why, as heavy as it was that was the only way to ensure it was in good shape when it arrived.
I got the two tank model, they also make a one tank model. Here is my suggestion, if you plan to put this item some place and keep it there. A tiki hut at your pool, a home bar, something like that, get whichever will serve you best. If you plan to more it around, and take it places you should likely stick to the single model. Again they are quite heavy and the single tank will be a lot more portable and weighs about 30 lbs less than the larger model.
They also have a lot of flexibility on adjusting temps so you may run them a bit colder to get a good slush in warm weather then if inside or during cooler times of the year. Additionally you can run them on a “chill” setting meaning you could say fill one side with lemonade or say ice tea and keep it very cold with no ice melting into it to water it down.
One thing to note if you are going to chill something like unsweet tea though chilling it is all you can do. To form a good slush the total sugar percentage has to be a minimum of 14%.
And they make a LOT of beverage per tank. Like 4 gallons per tank so the double unit makes 8 gallons a run. And they get it done fairly quickly too. The last time we used it we had temps on the pool deck of about 104 and we still got to a full slush in about 2 hours. If you need to speed that up, toss your mixer and some of the water into the freezer for an hour before you get set up.
Again your choices are
So check these guys out today. And if you are coming to the Fall Workshop at Nine Mile Farm this year we expect to be doing Lime Margaritas and Pina Coladas but hopefully not getting caught in the rain.
