I was reassured by the ideas and the plans covered. We are prepping like crazy, but all the prep in the world could still leave us vulnerable if our stored food/supplies are stolen/looted or destroyed. Each of these books gives a new position on things I haven’t really thought out, like hiding in plain sight (looking like a homeless person) and getting familiar with specific community locations that will be vital for survival, and accessing a building using a car jack etc. These are ideas we can implement/prepare for now while there is still time/resources. This book has hands-on ideas that you will save your life when there is no one else to save yourself but you. I’m ready to start working on these plans/exercises NOW, although I hope our world never gets bad enough to need to defend our supplies etc. I am getting another one a friend of ours.

Limited value and I was not convinced the author had first hand experience in these areas.

    Examples:
    1) Carry a rifle (AND cleaning/maintenance kit) AND pistol at ALL times. There was no discussion on concealed weapons or rules of engagement. I don’t think “stay away from people” really covers it.

    2) Very limited discussions on disguise. There is only one discussed for an urban environment. Be a homeless person.

    3) Very limited discussion on hiding in an urban setting. There is only one example. Hide under some trash bags.

    4) Author actually suggests hiding in a manure pile. Is this even possible? Would you use a shovel to sling s—t onto yourself? He is making the point that people will spend less time searching unpleasant places. True, but a manure pile can be inspected well enough from 20 feet away. More than close enough to see the wet disturbed manure.

    5) Make a “rope” ladder for accessing rooftops from an 18 gauge fishing treble hook and 600 lb test fishing line. There is not nearly enough information to convince me this is practical. An inventory of standard access approaches to roofs on commercial buildings and where they are generally located might have been nice.

    6) Very few diagrams and those provided are so simple that they do not add value over verbal descriptions.

    7) Pictures of equipment are very limited and don’t really add value. Seems like they were just thrown in to take up space.

    8) Author spends time talking about digging a hole to hide in and some pros and cons of shovel design. I can’t imagine a situation where this is really the right solution. Most places will not have deep loose soil. The author admits this could take 3 hours. It is hard to imagine that 3 hours spent on an alternate solution would not be best in almost every case. There is no guidance on when digging a hole is the best solution.

I could go on, but I think you get my point. I was very disappointed.

READ ME: Preppers Guide to Stealth & Evasion

This book “Without Rule of Law: Advanced Skills Help You Survive” by Joe Nobody is targeted toward Preppers with limited to intermediate skill level. However this book is an excellent refresher to the experienced Prepper. Some of the reviewers have stated that this book is just a rehash of military manuals and knowledge. Respectfully, I would disagree, as this book does cover some military related tactics, techniques and procedures; however these are not cut and paste vignettes. It is true that you may find some of this information in some military manuals, but not distilled of military jargon for the layman and regurgitated into the Prepper perspective for immediate use. To me some of the highlights of this book include Chapter 7 “How to Hide”, chapter 8 “How to Evade” and chapter 10 “How to Scavenge” all of which add interesting insight to these topics from the civilian/Prepper perspective. Additionally, the information as presented in this book would be hard to find in any military related manuals. Overall, I personally did not find any new revelations in this book, however this is not a bad thing as I have 23 years of military special operations background. But for the civilian Prepper with limited military know-how this book is an excellent introduction to the skill-sets. I personally would recommend this book to others looking to expand their survivability when the grid goes down.
