October has been one of those months where it feels like every project on my list decided to call for attention all at once… not that I’m complaining (too much). Life in the mountains always keeps me busy, and this past month has been no exception.
First up, TraceTheWord has been in full swing. I’ve been tweaking designs, getting sample pages printed, and testing fonts and shades of gray… because who knew that gray could be so particular? The cursive font is coming along nicely, though I decided to go a size bigger for readability. There’s nothing worse than squinting at a page you’re trying to trace. And the sample chapter for Genesis? I think it’s turning out pretty well, even if I’ve had to rework the cover page a few times for simplicity’s sake. Sometimes, less really is more.
Meanwhile, I’ve been juggling several other tasks, like working on a press release for TESS Energy. That’s been an interesting challenge, trying to capture attention with just the right words. You’d think after years of writing, it’d come easier, but no… it still takes effort. But I’m excited to see how this one turns out—it’s all about bringing sustainable energy solutions to underserved communities, and that’s a message worth sharing.
On the home front, I’ve been up to my usual antics in the kitchen. This month’s experiment? A lacto-ferment with cabbage, carrots, celery, and a bit of zucchini and onion for good measure, kinda like a sauerkraut with a bit extra. It’s been sitting for about 2 weeks now, and it’s been happily bubbling away. I’ll admit, I’m pretty excited to see how it turns out. Fermenting has always fascinated me… it’s like a science experiment you can eat!
Oh, and I finally started using my vibration plate (most) every day! I’ve been sticking to the pre-programmed settings, but I’m thinking about doubling up on the sessions—morning and evening. It’s a fun addition to my routine, and I’m curious to see how much of a difference it’ll make over time.
Another highlight from this month, I passed my exam to be a poll worker for the upcoming election! I’m really looking forward to working with the other ladies again. It’s always such a long day, but somehow, we manage to fill it with laughter and good company. There’s something special about being part of the process, even if it means an early start and a late finish. We all bring our own energy to the table, and by the end of the day, it feels like a mini reunion. I wouldn’t trade those long, laughter-filled hours for anything!
So, all in all, October has been a busy but rewarding month. Whether it’s been tweaking projects or trying new things, it feels like there’s always something to keep me on my toes. And with November just around the corner, I’m sure it won’t slow down anytime soon!
